My art is a visual chronicle of my life over the past several years. Sometimes it tells a story (e.g.when birds and fish show up). Other times it's my emotional response to what's happening in my life at the time--the pandemic, sheltering in place in Arizona for a month, processing grief, visiting beautiful spots in nature, the joy of Spring arriving again.
Art is how I discover deeper places within myself and as a result am able to connect with others. It renews my sense of curiosity, playfulness and inner joy that is available no matter what happens. Like life, my art is full of mistakes, re-dos and happy accidents that reinforce the continual, boundless surprise of creativity. I love color and mark-making and use acrylics, oil sticks, collage, pencil and ordinary tools like screwdrivers, sanders, combs, old credit cards and bubble wrap to create textures and experiment with color.
